Lit with Intention, the Monthly Spark—to Illuminate Every Area of Your Life
The beautiful theme for July flows naturally from the light of the Summer Solstice. As we move deeper into the season, Alban Hefin—“The Light of the Shore”—blesses us with its peak brilliance. Celebrated on the longest day of the year, this sacred turning point marks the zenith of solar energy, the fullness of nature, and a time to honor life’s abundance and illumination.
This month’s theme, Shine with Sovereignty, rises from that radiant threshold. It invites you to let yourself be seen in your wholeness—to lead not from effort, but from essence. Like the sun at its height, your light is not something to earn or prove—it simply is. July calls you to honor your visibility as vitality, your joy as leadership, and your truth as the source of your power.
What does this look like at home? In relationship? At work?
Last month I mentioned that I had moved from yoga to personal training to Pilates. That choice has created the place where I feel most radiant right now. It’s shown me that I can be both awkward and graceful, uneducated and knowledgeable—awkward in the parts of my body that are learning new techniques and creating new pathways to my brain, and yet graceful in my overall stature, my already existing strength and flexibility, and in my attitude of acceptance through this deep learning curve.
I went into it accepting my ignorance and now find joy in the moments when my past experience informs and supports these new movements. It’s revealed a new level of sovereignty—one that’s grown from the early days of a regular yoga practice, through the commitment of personal training, and into trusting my intuition to choose a new path forward for my body.
Another journey I’ve been on over the past nine months is my love relationship. Since the moment I saw him from across the room (in the restaurant where we met), he has radiated like the sun to me. Here’s the thing about the sun: yes, it shines brightly and warms all of your senses, but it also casts shadows. And when you’re walking a spiritual path and choosing presence and gratitude, you welcome—sometimes with a nod, not a full hug—those shadows as invitations for healing, clearing, revising, and renewal.
As you know from my book, ‘The Indisputable Gift of Men’, I firmly believe our love relationships create the space for our greatest healing and growth. And we always have the choice to step into that space—or not. I’ve found sovereignty in my full-hearted, messy, sometimes stubborn presence there. What I’ve noticed most is this: the old, outdated thoughts, beliefs, and structures are crumbling. And in their place, a foundation that has never existed before is being built—one rooted in the silent, steady shine of his radiance, and in my own stubbornness shifting into a strength of softness that feels more like me than anything I’ve ever known.
Just as this journey through body and heart has revealed new dimensions of my strength, so too has the journey of work and visibility. Sovereignty isn’t always loud—it doesn’t always wear a mic or take center stage. Sometimes, it’s the quiet courage of letting yourself be seen exactly when you feel most vulnerable. Publishing The Indisputable Gift of Men brought that lesson home in ways I never could have predicted. The book asked me to stand fully in my truth—raw, radiant, and yes, a little naked.
It’s a kind of shining that doesn’t always look like a spotlight or applause. The book itself demanded something of me—and still does, more all the time: to be vulnerable, open, honest, and real with you. There are moments when I’m invaded by the thought, “OMFG, people are reading about some of my most intimate real-life moments!!” And I feel naked all over again, and want to pull the covers up.
But Spirit has this intrusively spectacular way of calling me out—again and again. It happens when I’m standing among people and the book has sparked a conversation. I don’t lead those conversations. I rarely insert myself unless asked. I simply watch, listen, and radiate with gratitude for what’s been opened—for the tenderness and truth in others’ stories that come forth. That quietness and stillness is its own form of leadership—letting truth ripple outward.
And from this inner landscape—of embodied wisdom, relational healing, and reclaimed power—comes the next invitation: to take it into the world. This is the sacred essence of July’s theme, Shine with Sovereignty. Not as a performance, but as a natural emanation of spiritual success. When sovereignty lives in your cells, your choices, your presence… it doesn’t need to shout. It simply radiates. It blesses what it touches. It inspires without agenda.
Whether through a quiet conversation, a brave look inward, a boundary drawn outward, or a new way of showing up at work—this is how soul-rooted power moves. It shines because it’s aligned. And that is what this month is asking of each of us: to lead from the inside out. To let our lives be the lighthouse.
Let’s Light the Way Together,
XO, Danna
